For Miss, Zev, I would want some clothes she would like that can keep her warm.

For Narvin a textbook for learning ancient Gallifreyan from that time.

[There's some hesitation there -- the list is really quite short, and the lack of Omega hurts.]

For the Marquis, a translated version of an alien erotic novel.

[He would consider giving Jesse something as well, but he hasn't even spoken with the man apart from those few words of sympathy when Omega disappeared and has no idea what he should request.]

For everyone else, have some tafelshrew and schlenk appear in the kitchen, with a recipe for the staff.

[He gasps as his powers return, the sudden stimulation almost overwhelming. There's a short moment where he feels the urge to get his gauntlet and destroy something -- maybe that awful sweater -- but he doesn't. Instead, he stays where he is and waits, breathing in deeply, until he is used to them again. It doesn't take long and he simply relishes the feel of power, the ability to feel -- oh, how he has missed this.

He doesn't bother to hide it when he leaves his cabin -- if any other telepath notices, he doesn't care.]

[[OOC: Feel free to find him in the dining hall, some hallway or on the deck -- I didn't want to clutter things up with two posts for this and a Day in the Life log.]]

[Narvin senses that something's different about Rassilon as soon as he sees him. Usually, during the inevitable chance meetings that occasionally occur on so small a ship, Narvin tries to hurry by with no more than a quick bitter exchange of words before moving on. Sometimes, when he's lucky, they say nothing at all as they cross paths in the corridor.

But this time Narvin stops in his tracks, skin prickling with nervousness, and stares at Rassilon warily.]

You have your telepathy back.

[And suddenly Narvin's greatest advantage over Rassilon has been taken away. Before he was securely confident that if it ever came down to a real fight, he could win. Now he's far less sure of that.]

[As Rassilon's stance shows more confidence and pleasure at the situation, Narvin's becomes more wary.]

I have no intention of attacking you unless you should give me reason to. Behave like a renegade or a dictator and I will try to stop you. [Frightened of the idea though he is. But he's CIA and crimes committed by Time Lords are his responsibility.] But so long as you obey the rules you're perfectly safe from me.

[Narvin bristles.]

I'm not cowering. I'm simply sensibly cautious.

And I see no need to watch my manners on your behalf. [Or most people's behalf, really.] You've hardly been entirely mannerly to me.

What have you done to me? You've insulted and disparaged me. You find fault with everything I am and everything I do, when I have always devoted myself to the civilization you created. I've done more to advance Gallifrey's cause in the coming years than anyone else on this ship, and still you mock me as insufficiently Time Lord when the Barge saw fit to transform me into a Hound. I see no reason to be polite to you.

Understand me? What is there to not understand? I'm a Time Lord, the same as you.

You can't hold me accountable for things I did while I wasn't myself. I hurt you in self defense once; the rest wasn't me, it was someone else wearing my body.

Of course I know. I simply don't care.

Agent Kay isn't just any human, he's a human with a high rank in an agency that specializes in fending off alien invasions. A human with the resources to potentially help save Gallifreyan lives.

...[And then that tense hits.]

Was?

He has an organization that receives and processes asylum seekers from other worlds. The Time War is in my relative future. I can't stop it from happening, not entirely; changing that timeline could create a tremendous paradox. But what I can do is see to it that at least some Gallifreyans survive, even if they have to become refugees to do it.

Agent Kay and his agency may be willing to hold off the Daleks while I evacuate as many of our people as I can. Gallifrey may fall, if it's destined to, if it's a fixed point in time, but Time Lord civilization will live.

Right now? I'm here for the Matrix. All that knowledge, all those memories and brain patterns of dead Time Lords...my deal is to restore it as it was. Minus Pandora, of course. It must exist during the war for you, and the Master for that matter, to be resurrected. But it was destroyed in the civil war. Perhaps my deal here and now is fulfilling that part of the timeline. Certainly the restoration of the Matrix can only help with the war effort.

[He hesitates before saying the rest. He knows that it's not something Rassilon will want to here. Indeed, it's not something Narvin likes thinking about either. He speaks quietly, and with more respect than he has in some time. Not necessarily for Rassilon as an individual, but respect for the Time Lord traditions and values he founded.]

Lord Rassilon. I've been to many Gallifreys now in many universes. And one thing they all have in common is that they were either destroyed or on the verge of destruction, almost always at roughly the same point in time.

I've come to wonder if the destruction of Gallifrey is a fixed point in time. Not just in our universe, but in all universes. If that is the case... I don't know how to stop it. Or if it can be stopped.

If the destruction of Gallifrey is a fixed point, the Web of Time will make it happen, no matter our efforts to prevent it. If not the Daleks it will be Monans, or vampires, or a temporal disaster of our own making. We may have mastered Time, but Time still rules us. There are some events that can't be changed; you said so in your own laws. All we can do it mitigate the effects and save what we can.

[He doesn't expect Rassilon to listen. Presidents rarely listen to his opinion. But there was someone whose advice Rassilon might listen to, even though he's no longer here.]

The Doctor thought as I did. The short one. He saw probabilities for the future. So many different possible futures but always Gallifrey was lost. Often at his hand. It troubled him to say the least.

[Narvin gives up. Presidents never listen to him. And a battle between Lord Rassilon and Time isn't one he wants to get in the middle of.]

Good luck with that. [He says mockingly.]

In the meantime, I'm going to devote my efforts to saving lives.

I did try. I was nearly destroyed trying. [He snarls, all light mocking gone.]

But I've seen too many Gallifreys ruined, and I can't see any way to fix it.
