I have nightmares about my children dying.

[He pauses, eyes wide. Damn flood!]

[He quickly turns the feed off, before he starts talking about his daughter the last thing he needs is everyone knowing about that.]

No. [He's hesitant to share too much. Because... well, it's a tyrannical overlord of an alien race. But it's a race that made an alien that he loves.]

But I never got to be her father. Had to trade one to save the other.

[Awkward and tense things are awkward and tense sometimes. He would probably hate what the woman did if he knew.] I like Time Lords. Not like how all the Doctor's companions like him. Thus far, in general, I've enjoyed most of the Time Lords I've met.

[Be proud of your kids. They're good kids. Sometimes.]

[Rassilon looks surprised, before smiling. Ah. So maybe he had tried to befriend Narvin? And that was why the Coordinator had been so strange? Not necessarily something he approves off, but understandable, he supposes.] It is nice to meet someone sensible enough to notice our qualities.

[Time Lord egos are funny. It's fortunate he's so used to egotistical races.] I'm a representative of Earth's primary protectorate organization in my universe. [One of it's founding members and almost a cosmic figurehead. But he's modest and likes pretending that he's not famous and doesn't have fans. Letters from intergalactic teenagers and their mothers make him uncomfortable.] I know a lot of races.

Your Earth has something like that? I know only of UNIT. One of their high-ranked members has visited my tomb. [The Brigadier had been alright, as far as humans go. At least he had knocked out that pesky Master; meaning less work for himself. But what he knew of UNIT itself didn't sound all that appealing.]

I'm with the Men in Black. We license, monitor, and police alien activity on the planet Earth. Pretty much keep the immigrants safe from the humans and the humans happy and unaware of the aliens living among them. It's intergalactic neutral ground. We also monitor the distribution of alien technology. [He would probably like the Brig if he met him.]

That sounds rather sensible. [He smells delicious bureaucracy...] And well-organized! [He's surprised, but in the good way. Who'd thought that humans could be like this? Maybe they weren't always quite as bad as he had thought -- not that he liked them much. They were still just aliens.] ...Tell me, what do you think of the Doctor? His methods seem to be the opposite of yours.

Honestly, the Doctor probably would have been exiled off the planet. Public displays of power by an alien inhabitant are strictly forbidden as they tend to attract more trouble than protect from it. Therefore forcible exclusion is generally the policy.

[He doesn't hate the Doctor, though. He's got good intentions. But he'd still kick him off the planet if he started making a big show of himself.] The point generally is that alien defectors need to be kept safe from intergalactic conflict and the entire planet needs to be protected from invasion. To maintain our political affiliations it's generally a bad idea to have someone challenging the universe just for a good time.

[He nods.] Very sensible, as I thought. He can be such an insufferable meddler, so rarely thinking about the consequences of his actions.

My boss is a smart man and makes good decisions. [He likes Zed.] Hope the rest of the day goes easier for you, Lord President.

[He nods again.] Thank you.
